Mothers Day

Mother's Day 2023

As we approach Mother's Day 2023, it's important to take a moment to reflect on the significance of this holiday. Mother's Day is a time to celebrate and honor the women who have given us life, love, and guidance throughout our lives. While this day is often associated with gifts, cards, and flowers, it's important to remember the true meaning behind Mother's Day: gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices our mothers have made.

In many ways, Mother's Day is a holiday that has been celebrated for centuries. In ancient Greece, the mother goddess Rhea was honored with a spring festival that included parades, feasts, and offerings. In the United States, Mother's Day was officially recognized as a holiday in 1914, thanks to the efforts of Anna Jarvis, who wanted to honor her own mother and all mothers.

Today, Mother's Day is celebrated around the world, with different countries and cultures having their own unique traditions. In Mexico, for example, Mother's Day is celebrated on May 10th with a large family gathering and traditional foods. In Ethiopia, Mother's Day is celebrated in the fall with a three-day festival that includes dancing, singing, and feasting.

No matter how Mother's Day is celebrated, the sentiment remains the same: to honor and appreciate the women who have given us so much. This year, as we continue to navigate the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it's more important than ever to show our mothers how much we care.

One way to celebrate Mother's Day in 2023 is to take a moment to reflect on the lessons and values that our mothers have taught us. From the importance of hard work and perseverance to the value of kindness and empathy, our mothers have shaped us in countless ways. By taking the time to recognize and appreciate these lessons, we can honor our mothers in a meaningful way.

Another way to celebrate Mother's Day in 2023 is to give back to our communities in honor of our mothers. Whether it's volunteering at a local charity or donating to a cause that our mothers care about, this is a meaningful way to show our gratitude and appreciation.

Of course, traditional Mother's Day gifts like flowers and cards are always a great way to show our mothers how much we care. However, it's important to remember that the true value of Mother's Day lies in the love and appreciation that we show our mothers, not in the material gifts that we give.

In conclusion, Mother's Day 2023 is a time to reflect on the importance of our mothers in our lives and to show our gratitude and appreciation for all that they have done for us. Whether we celebrate with traditional gifts or by giving back to our communities, the most important thing is to honor our mothers and to let them know how much they mean to us.

Mother's Day: A Dozen Roses, 6 Feet Apart

Every year for Mother’s Day, my dad, my eight siblings and I treat my mom to decadent pastries from this charming European Café called Ettore’s, and of course shower her with fresh blooms.  It’s a tradition we all look forward to; I love seeing the smile on my mom’s face as she takes a bite of her fruit tart and smells her spring bouquet.  But this year, we’re not able to crowd around the table at Ettore’s or meet in person for hugs.  As many restaurants and businesses remain closed, and social distancing is in place, Mother’s Day looks different for us all.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learned during quarantine, it’s that showing your loved ones you care is more important than ever, and that means mom this Mother’s Day.  One of my favorite ways to celebrate her -treats and blooms- has inspired this year’s collaboration with local businesses.  Petals and Fields is partnering with several Nashville businesses to bring a little love to mom from a distance.  You can pair an exquisite cheeseboard or delicious donuts with one of our over-the-top floral bouquets that are as special and unique as she is.

Don’t miss out on a creative way to show mom you care.  Arrangements and pairings are available while supplies last.  Order with ease through our website or contact us directly.  We offer safe no-contact local delivery or pick-up.
